Soft As Snow (Live from Berlin – IT Debut)

Soft as Snow is the collaboration between musicians and producers Oda Egjar Starheim and Øystein Monsen. Their work exists in a hybrid of deconstructed pop and club culture, forming \”electronic music pushed to the brink of collapse\” (The Wire). The Norwegian duo’s singular sound can in part be attributed to Oda’s background in performance art and to Øystein’s ascent through the Oslo noise/rock scene as drummer and video artist. Being deeply involved in their visual aesthetics, the duo has also created several of their artwork and music videos.
Since 2014 Soft as Snow has released multiple EPs and singles on UK label Houndstooth before debut album \’Deep Wave\’ arrived in 2018. Working together with WIFE of Tri Angle Records, the album garnered effusive praise from notable magazines and extensive radio play.
The duo\’s 2nd album \’Bit Rot\’ is due for release on Infinite Machine 29 October. Mixed by Ville Haimala of Amnesia Scanner, it captures the friction of our contemporary existence in which smooth digital surfaces are locked in conflict with messy physical realities. The crumbling of fantastic European infrastructure is mirrored by luxurious synthwave and ecstatic trance crumbling into nightmarish, corroded cyberscapes.
To further elaborate the album theme the duo is producing an A/V show in collaboration with 3D artist Guynoid and latex designer AGF Hydra, exploring the fluidity of body and identity when the digital and the physical fuse as one.
The past years Soft as Snow has been playing at a range of festivals, concert spaces, residencies and art galleries internationally, from Berghain in Berlin and London’s Corsica Studios to the Community Gallery in Paris and noise events in Copenhagen.

Cultore delle sonorità più ricercate e non convenzionali, affamato collezionista di musica dall\’influenza più stravagante. Questo è il binomio fondamentale cui riconduciamo la figura artistica di Guxi.
Qualora vi confessiate attivi frequentatori, da qualche anno ad oggi, della Night Life capitolina, le probabilità che i suoi dischi non vi siano già passati in rassegna è decisamente scarsa; dal 2011 il contenuto delle sue valigette ha coccolato le più importanti dancefloors della scena, dal Circolo Degli Illuminati, al Lanificio 159, Ex Caserme Guido Reni, passando per Coropuna, Magick Bar, Vicious, senza dimenticare di far sosta tra le pareti dei leggendari Qube e Piper.
Per ogni luogo che visitasse valigie in spalla, il pubblico è rimasto viziato da un\’espressione fluttuante su di un territorio dai permeabili confini tra House, (Nu)Disco, Afrobeat, e Jazz e Rock; quell\’identità caleidoscopica mai così evidente come nelle sue stesse produzioni uscite sulla label svedese Tom Tom Disco, su Garrincha Soundsystem, UCOR e Slow Motion e prima di tutto funzione di un\’imprescindibile ed invidiabile cultura self-made sapientemente coltivata dalla giovanissima età ed arricchita via-via col trascorrere dell\’esperienza.
Sono queste appena elencate allora, nelle loro infinite ed appassionanti sfumature, le chiavi di lettura fondamentali di un performer quale Guxi.
