Bärbel Praun is a visual artist working at the intersection of photography, sculpture and performance. Her current bodies of work deal with her obsession with the climate crisis, the pollution and exploitation of the Earth, which deeply influences the content and methodology of her work. Using found objects, she creates ephemeral sculptures and installations that address the relationship between object, material and space, the value of our everyday material world and the visibility of process and time.
The workshop will be a place for gathering and sharing thoughts and reflections on the relationship between photography and time, and on our relationship with the world around us through a series of exercises to explore together and engage with.
After giving some insights on her methodology and work process, focusing on the one hand on her series and self-published book Office Figures and on the other on other artists’ work examples, Bärbel will work with the workshop participants on the idea of her body of work Impermanent Sculptures (of Indestructible Objects), using a performative approach and simple printing and book making techniques, based on the limitation and possibilities of a black and white A4 laser printer.

Bärbel Praun è un\’artista visiva che lavora all\’intersezione tra fotografia, scultura e performance.
I suoi progetti più recenti affrontano l\’ossessione per la crisi climatica, l\’inquinamento e lo sfruttamento della Terra, emi che influenzano profondamente il contenuto e la metodologia del suo lavoro. Utilizzando oggetti trovati, crea sculture e installazioni effimere che affrontano il rapporto tra oggetto, materiale e spazio, il valore del nostro mondo materiale quotidiano e la visibilità del processo e del tempo.
Il workshop sarà un luogo di incontro e condivisione di pensieri e riflessioni sul rapporto tra fotografia e tempo, e sulla nostra relazione con il mondo circostante, attraverso una serie di esercizi da esplorare insieme e con cui confrontarsi.
Dopo aver fornito alcuni spunti sulla sua metodologia e sul suo processo di lavoro, concentrandosi da un lato sulla sua serie e sul libro autopubblicato Office Figurese dall\’altro su esempi di lavoro di altri artisti, Bärbel lavorerà con i partecipanti al workshop sull\’idea del suo corpo di lavoro Impermanent Sculptures (of Indestructible Objects), utilizzando un approccio performativo e semplici tecniche di stampa e creazione di libri, basate sui limiti e sulle possibilità di una stampante laser A4 in bianco e nero.
