Fièvre è l’undicesimo libro pubblicato da Lorenzo Castore, nato dal desiderio di David Fourré – fondatore delle éditions lamaindonne – e di Caroline Benichou di restituire l’approccio alla fotografia di Castore, che si manifesta in una pratica quotidiana molto fisica.
Attraverso il dialogo fra i tre, che ha trovato un importante spunto di ispirazione dalla visita di Fourré e Benichou alla mostra presso la Galerie Anne Clergue durante i Rencontres d’Arles 2022 ha preso vita una pubblicazione in cui emergevano i tratti che più avevano affascinato gli interlocutori del fotografo: una tensione costante tra forze opposte che si incontrano o si scontrano, una permeabilità al mondo e agli altri, che con il tempo li ha spinti a trovare quasi come una soluzione naturale il titolo della pubblicazione.
“La febbre va in ogni direzione. – scrive Castore nella sua intervista con Benichou all’interno del volume- Nasce dal coinvolgimento emotivo nella mia esperienza personale che è tante cose insieme… abbandono al desiderio sensuale, bisogno di crescita intellettuale e spirituale, tentativo di relazione con l’altro qui e ora e tensione verso le stelle e lo spazio infinito. La febbre si alimenta di curiosità, empatia e istinto ma l’energia e le capacità sono limitate. […] Nel momento in cui decido di rappresentare qualcosa quel qualcosa mi parla, mi riguarda, mi assomiglia, è fatto della mia stessa sostanza. Quindi certo, questo libro è un altro tentativo di autoritratto.” – Lorenzo Castore
Le serie del fotografo italiano Lorenzo Castore, realizzate nel corso di diversi anni, si concentrano sulla memoria emotiva, personale e collettiva. Attraverso la sua estetica e il suo desiderio di staccarsi, il suo lavoro si colloca nel lignaggio della ‘fotografia tremolante’, in continuità con i grandi nomi della fotografia come Robert Frank. Fièvre is the eleventh book published by Lorenzo Castore. Fièvre takes shape from the desire of David Fourré – founder of éditions lamaindonne – and Caroline Benichou to share Castore’s approach to photography, which manifests itself in a very physical daily practice.
The publication comes to life through the dialogue between the three, which found an important source of inspiration from the visit of Fourré and Benichou to the exhibition at the Galerie Anne Clergue during the Rencontres d’Arles 2022, highlighting the traits that had most fascinated the interlocutors of the photographer: a constant tension between opposing forces that meet or clash, and a permeability to the world and to others, which over time brought them to find the title of the publication almost as a natural solution.
“The fever goes in every direction. – Castore writes in his interview with Benichou in the volume – It arises from the emotional involvement in my personal experience which is many things together… abandonment to sensual desire, need for intellectual and spiritual growth, attempt at a relationship with the other here and now and a tension towards the stars and infinite space. Fever feeds on curiosity, empathy and instinct but energy and abilities are limited. […] The moment I decide to represent something that something speaks to me, concerns me, resembles me, is made of the same substance as me.
