Un\’infanzia passata in Siria nel terrore di un\’educazione militarizzata. Un inscindibile legame di mente e corpo con una gemella identica. Un figlio addentratosi nella foresta della neurodiversità. Un paese in crisi, il Libano, dove i sogni di rivoluzione si infrangono a contatto con la realtà. Attingendo dalle sue esperienze di vita, Lina Ghaibeh ci apre spiragli su interi mondi, tra storie a fumetti del passato e iconiche illustrazioni delle proteste libanesi del 2019.

An education in fear during her militarized childhood in Syria. The intertwined mental and physical life of two identical twins. A son who walked into the forest of neurodiversity. Lebanon, a country in the middle of a crisis where dreams of revolution clash with reality. Drawing from her own life experiences, Lina Ghaibeh discloses to our eyes entire worlds, combining comics stories from the past and iconic illustrations of the 2019 uprising in Lebanon.
Lina Ghaibeh è un\’artista di fumetti e animazione metà siriana/libanese metà danese che vive a Beirut ed è docente associata presso l’American University di Beirut (AUB). È direttrice del Rada & Mutaz Sawaf Arab Comics Center dell\’AUB. La sua ricerca accademica si concentra sui fumetti nel mondo arabo come parte della cultura araba contemporanea, mentre i suoi cortometraggi animati e i suoi fumetti esplorano i temi dell\’identità, dell\’appartenenza e della giustizia sociale, con Beirut come luogo di ispirazione, e sono stati proiettati ed esposti in diversi festival cinematografici internazionali e saloni del fumetto.
Lina è una gemella identica, quella cattiva.

رسامة وفنانة قصص مصورة ورسوم متحركة، من سوريا/لبنان/الدنمرك، مقيمة في بيروت. هي المديرة المؤسِّسة لمركز رادا ومعتز الصواف لدراسات الشرائط المصورة العربية في الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت، ومنسقة سابقة لبرنامج التصميم الغرافيكي وأستاذة في قسم العمارة والتصميم في الجامعة. وقد تم عرض أعمالها في العديد من المهرجانات السينمائية والمعارض الدولية. وتتركز أبحاثها على الشرائط والقصص المصورة في العالم العربي كجزء من الثقافة العربية المعاصرة. تستكشف أفلامها القصيرة وقصصها المصورة الفنية قضايا الهوية والانتماء والعدالة الاجتماعية، مع مدينة بيروت كموقع للإلهام ، وتم عرضها في العديد من المهرجانات السينمائية الدولية وصالونات القصص المصورة العالمية. لينة توأم متطابق، وهي الشريرة من بينهما
Lina Ghaibeh is a half Syrian/Lebanese half Danish Comics comics and animation artist living in Beirut, and an associate professor at the American University of Beirut. She is founding director of the Rada & Mutaz Sawaf Arab Comics Center at AUB, and was coordinator of the graphic design program at the department of Architecture & Design. Her academic research focuses on Comics in the Arab world as part of contemporary Arab Culture, with her most recent edited book Graphic Narratives From Lebanon’s 2019 Popular Uprisings, and recent articles Telling Graphic Stories of the Region: Arabic Comics after the Revolution, and From Behind the Doors Into the Streets: Women in Comics from the Arab World. Her animated shorts and comics art explore issues of identity, belonging and social justice, with Beirut as a site of inspiration, and have been screened and exhibited at several international film festivals and comics Salons. Lina is an identical twin, the evil one.
